From One Flight in 2011 to a Vibrant Air Highway
Rewind to 14 years ago. Asiana Airlines launched the very first direct flight from Seoul to Da Nang, lighting the spark of a soon-to-be thriving tourism connection. Korean Air quickly followed, and soon enough, South Korea became one of Da Nang’s top three international tourist markets — and since 2016, it’s held the #1 spot.
That’s not just impressive. It’s phenomenal.
Fast forward to 2025, and that tiny spark has become a superhighway in the sky. Da Nang now boasts direct service from 12 airlines operating between South Korea and the city. We’re talking names like Air Busan, Jeju Air, T’way Air, Eastar Jet, Jin Air, Aero K, Air Premia, and more — plus the hometown heroes Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air.
💡 Weekly direct flights? Up from a modest 7 to a jaw-dropping 150. That’s a 22-fold growth. And yes, it’s official: South Korea is the international market with the densest air network to Da Nang!
Growth Fueled by Heart, Strategy & Collaboration
Growth like this doesn’t happen overnight — or just because folks love beaches (although Da Nang’s are unbeatable 🌊). It’s the outcome of years of effort by city officials, tourism departments, travel agencies, airlines, businesses, and of course, enthusiastic travelers from South Korea.
Between 2015 and 2019, and again during the post-COVID recovery from 2023 to 2025, international arrivals to Da Nang rose rapidly (120–130% growth). And guess what? South Korean tourists consistently led the charge.
The winning formula? Close cooperation across public and private sectors, smart diplomacy, innovative tour packages, and relentless marketing. Korean partners didn’t just promote Da Nang — they made it a second home.
